Sales training software is the system you use to teach reps your product, your pitch and your process, let them practice it, and show who passed. The category covers three kinds of tool that overlap: learning platforms that run courses and quizzes, enablement suites that add training to a content library, and AI role-play tools that give reps a buyer to rehearse with and a score at the end.
This guide compares nine of them. For each one we show how a single training job runs inside the tool, what the tool counts as "trained", which package unlocks that and what we couldn't verify. We read each vendor's pricing page, a product page and, where one was readable, a help-center page on October 25, 2026. Hyperbound is the only one of the nine with a free plan, and none lists a paid price in USD on its own site, so the price column says "quote only" far more often than it shows a number.

Best Sales Training Software: Our Picks
Each pick is the tool we'd look at first for one training job. We judged them on what a rep does in the tool, how a pass is decided, which package you need and how much of that you can verify before you talk to sales.

Sales Training Software Compared
The table lists the nine tools in the order of the three approaches below. "What counts as trained" is the evidence the tool can record for a rep, based on the vendor pages we read.
| Tool | Tool type | What counts as trained | Starting price | G2 rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sales readiness platform | Platform-scored quizzes, manager-reviewed pitches and AI role-play feedback | Quote only (no public price list) | 4.7 (2,399) | |
| Learning, coaching and content platform | Certification paths and AI role play scored on a shared rubric | Quote only (per user per month, billed annually) | 4.6 (724) | |
| Enablement platform for mid-size teams | Test and pitch modules with passing scores and graders | Quote only (Essential, Pro, Unlimited) | 4.6 (828) | |
| Learning management system (LMS) | Assessments at an admin-set pass mark, expiring certificates, manager-graded recordings | Quote only; Growth (under 1,000 monthly active users), Professional (1,000 to 5,000) and Enterprise (5,000+) bands; implementation fee of 10% of the first-year contract and about 60 days to implement, per the pricing FAQ | 4.8 (Capterra, 99) | |
| Enablement platform | Lessons with a retake score, graded answers and AI role play | Quote only (Essential, Advanced, Ultimate) | 4.6 (1,805) | |
| Enablement platform | Knowledge checks (Good); courses, test-out and role play (Better) | Quote only (Good, Better, Best packages) | 4.7 (1,206) | |
| Enablement platform | Tests with a 75% default pass score, certificates and scored spoken role play | Quote only (Professional, Advanced, Expert) | 4.6 (1,909) | |
| AI role-play with real-call scoring | Scored AI role-plays with certification thresholds; real-call scoring on Perform | Free plan (45 prebuilt AI role-plays, example scorecards); Practice and Perform by quote, priced per user | 4.9 (38) | |
| AI role-play | Weighted role-play scores with passing criteria and manual review for certification | Quote only (no public pricing page) | 4.6 (366) | |
| Release enablement acknowledgements | Shows which SDRs, AEs and CSMs are ready to explain a product change | Access code | No reviews yet |
Checked October 25, 2026 on each vendor's pricing and product pages. No vendor lists a paid USD price, so prices read as quote only. Ratings are G2 values unless marked Capterra; G2 blocked direct access for several tools, so those ratings are search-result values from October 2026 and review counts can differ by a few between pages.
What Sales Training Software Does
Sales training software delivers courses, quizzes, practice and reporting so that a manager can tell who is ready to sell, not just who clicked through a lesson. A useful system does four things: it builds training from your own material, gives reps a way to practice, decides who passed, and shows managers the result.
The fourth part is where tools differ most. A completion report tells you a rep opened every lesson. It doesn't tell you the rep can explain a pricing change to a buyer.
Sales Training, Coaching and Enablement
The three terms overlap, and several products sell all of them. They answer different questions.
| Term | Main question | Evidence it produces | Where it shows up in this guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales training | Can this rep do the job we hired them for? | Quiz scores, scored practice, certificates | Every tool below |
| Sales coaching | How did this rep do on real calls, and what should they change? | Call reviews and scorecards | Hyperbound's Perform plan; see our guide to sales coaching software |
| Sales enablement | Do reps have the right content at the right moment? | Content usage and plays | Seismic, Highspot and Showpad libraries; see our guide to sales enablement software |
What Counts as Trained
Before you compare vendors, decide what evidence you want from a rep. There are five levels, and each tool can record some of them.
- Completion. The rep finished the lessons. It's the cheapest to measure and the weakest proof.
- Quiz score. The rep answered questions at or above a pass mark you set.
- Scored practice. The rep practiced a conversation and got a score against a rubric.
- Manager sign-off. A person graded a short answer, a pitch or a recording.
- Real-call proof. The rep's live calls are scored against the same rubric as the practice.
Showpad documents a 75% default pass score for tests. Continu records a pitch for a manager to grade. Hyperbound scores real calls on its Perform plan. Most vendors describe the first three levels on their public pages and say little about the last two.
Which Type of Sales Training Software Do You Need?
Start with the training job, not the vendor. The table maps the most common jobs to the approach that fits, and the sections after it cover the tools.
| If this is your problem | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| New hires must learn product and process in order, with quizzes and a certificate | A learning platform: Mindtickle, Allego, SalesHood or Continu | They build paths, run tests and track who passed |
| Reps already get decks and playbooks from an enablement suite | An enablement suite with training: Seismic, Highspot or Showpad | Training sits next to the content, but the package you buy decides whether you get real courses |
| Reps freeze on cold calls and objections | An AI role-play tool: Hyperbound or Second Nature | They give repeated practice against a buyer and a score within seconds |
| You need proof that a pitch was certified | Any tool with a pass score and manager sign-off | Check that the pass is set by you and recorded per rep |
| You want to take a course yourself, not run a program | A course provider or a vendor academy | This guide is about software a team runs, not individual certificates |
Mindtickle vs Highspot for Sales Training
The two are the most common head-to-head, and they start from different places. Mindtickle builds around readiness: courses, quizzes, role play and a Readiness Index that ties training programs to skill improvement, with no public package list. Highspot builds around content and CRM plays and puts real training in its Better package and above. If the content library is the core purchase, look at Highspot, Seismic or Showpad first. If proving readiness is the core purchase, look at Mindtickle or Allego first.
Looking for Courses or Certificates for Yourself?
If you're an individual looking for AI sales training courses or a certificate, you want a course provider or a vendor academy rather than software your team runs. Salesforce, for example, offers free online AI sales training courses on its own site, and course catalogs such as Coursera's also surface for this topic. Those teach general skills. The tools in this guide deliver and track your own company's training: your product, your pitch and your pass marks.
Learning and Readiness Platforms
Learning and readiness platforms build the course, run the quiz and track completion. Practice is either built in (Mindtickle, Allego and SalesHood) or a recorded pitch that a manager grades (Continu).
Mindtickle
Best for role play built per rep
Fits an enablement team that wants onboarding courses, scored practice and a readiness view in one platform and can live with a quote-only price.
A new AE's first 30 days in Mindtickle. An enablement admin builds the courses and quizzes. Mindtickle says documents can be turned into video or podcast lessons and translated with AI. Practice comes in two modes. In standard role play an admin writes the scenario, with AI generating one from a few prompts, and assigns it. In Personalized Role Play, Mindtickle builds the scenario for each rep from call recordings, past role plays and assessment scores, with no admin work per rep. The rep practices by voice against an AI buyer whose personality they choose, in 25+ languages, and gets feedback on content plus talk ratio, pace and filler words. Solution consultants can screen-share a demo inside a role play.
Certification is where the public detail runs out. Mindtickle's own blog describes eight quiz types scored by the platform and says a person should review most pitch exercises, which it calls Missions, before a rep moves up a level. The role-play page markets a pitch certification for launches. We found no public page that shows how a pass score is set, because the help center needs a login.
- you want practice generated from your reps' own calls and assessment scores
- you need onboarding, role play and a readiness view in one platform and have an enablement admin to run it
- you want a published price: Mindtickle's pricing page returns an error and every route goes through a demo
- you need to see pass-score settings before you buy: the help center is login-only
- Users like

How it works in practice
Mindtickle lists Salesforce, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Slack integrations, plus SSO through Okta and Microsoft Entra ID. Its customer stories, such as Cisco and Janssen India, report time savings and shorter ramp; we haven't repeated the numbers because they come from Mindtickle itself.
- Starting price
- Quote only (no public price list)
- Role-play languages
- 25+
- Quiz types
- 8, per Mindtickle's blog
Allego
Best for multilingual teams
Fits a multinational or multilingual sales team that wants onboarding programs and AI role play and can commit to a multi-year contract.
Building a 30-day path in Allego. Allego sells Learning and AI Role Play as two separately priced products. In Modern Learning, an admin or the AI turns existing decks and documents into programs: short lessons, interactive video with timeline comments, mobile-first lessons or live sessions, delivered through automated role-based assignments with certification paths. Practice is the other product. It runs unscripted, adaptive simulations against AI video avatars, scored on one shared rubric across roles and regions, with manager scoring and side-by-side review of attempts. Allego lists 32 languages and 71 voices for practice and scoring in 59 languages.
Certification paths sit in Learning, while custom badges and certifications for role-play skill sit in AI Role Play, so a team that wants both licenses both. The public pages don't say how a pass is defined. We found no score threshold, retake rule or quiz setting, and Allego's support site wasn't reachable.
- your reps sell in several languages and need practice and scoring in them
- you want one shared rubric across regions with manager scoring on top
- you want a short contract: Allego says a three-year term billed annually upfront is typical
- you need a pass or fail quiz setting you can verify before you buy
- Users like
- Ease of use and interactive courses
- Users dislike
- Interface and layout limits
- Source: G2, 724 reviews

How it works in practice
Allego lists Salesforce, HubSpot CRM and Microsoft Dynamics 365, Zoom, Webex and Google Meet for call capture, SSO through Okta, OneLogin, Ping Identity and Azure AD, and HRIS tools including Workday and ADP. AI and customer support are included in the list price; managed services cost extra.
- Starting price
- Quote only (per user per month, billed annually)
- Contract
- Typically 3 years, billed annually upfront; 1 and 2 year terms offered
- Implementation
- As little as 4 weeks
SalesHood
Best for mid-size teams that want limits in writing
Fits a mid-size team that wants courses, tests and scored pitch practice in one tool, with the AI practice volume per plan on the pricing page.
A pitch certification in SalesHood. Training is built from Huddles (lessons, video, tests, SCORM content, pitch-practice modules and live events) that are sequenced into Paths. SalesHood's AI Program Builder turns existing enablement content into onboarding, learning and certification programs, and its AI Training and Role-Play Builder turns methodology and messaging into scenarios that the admin reviews before publishing. Each AI practice attempt is scored against criteria the team sets, with written feedback. According to SalesHood's own comparison page, test and pitch modules can require a minimum passing score, assign graders and require earlier modules; the default threshold isn't published. Managers get one review queue, a weekly pending-review email and a coaching dashboard.
The plan decides how much repeat practice a rep gets. AI pitch practice and role play are capped at 10 submissions per license on Essential, 80 on Pro and unlimited on Unlimited.
- you want tests, pitch practice and a manager review queue in one mid-size tool
- you want to read the practice limits per plan before you talk to sales
- you expect heavy repeat practice on the entry plan: Essential allows 10 AI practice submissions per license
- your reps live in HubSpot, Slack or Teams: the SalesHood pages we read name Salesforce and file-storage integrations, not those tools
- Users like
- Ease of use and training experience
- Users dislike
- Navigation and search
- Source: G2, 828 reviews

How it works in practice
SalesHood doesn't publish prices on its own site. G2's vendor-provided profile shows "starting at $45.00" per user per month without naming a plan. Reviewers on G2 describe an intuitive platform and an engaging learning experience, and complain about missing search and collaboration features and difficult navigation.
- Starting price
- Quote only (Essential, Pro, Unlimited)
- AI practice cap
- 10, 80 or unlimited submissions per license (Essential, Pro, Unlimited)
Continu
Best general LMS for sales onboarding
Fits a company that wants one learning system for sales and the rest of the business and values onboarding automation and expiring certificates over AI practice.
A 30, 60 and 90 day onboarding journey in Continu. An admin builds a Journey from articles, SCORM files, video and assessments. A Journey can start automatically when a new hire is added, can be triggered by a CRM or HRIS event, and can release sections on a schedule such as 30, 60 and 90 days. Sections can be required or optional, locked behind prerequisites, skipped by test-out and branched by role, region or assessment score. An assessment has an admin-set pass mark and retake policy, and passing can award a certificate that expires and starts a re-certification assignment on its own. Learning data shows inside Salesforce.
Practice here is human. On the Professional plan, reps record a pitch, a demo or an objection answer, and a manager adds timestamped comments and a grade. Continu has no AI buyer to practice against. Its MCP connector lets an AI assistant draft articles, journeys and assessments from a deck, and nothing publishes without a person. We couldn't open Continu's help article on assessments, so the default pass mark and retake limit are unknown.
- you want one learning system for sales onboarding and everyone else, with journeys that start from a CRM or HRIS event
- you need certificates that expire and re-assign automatically
- you want reps to practice against an AI buyer with instant scoring
- you want a published price or a small contract: Continu quotes by active-user band and charges an implementation fee
- Users like
- Easy to navigate, clean layout
- Users dislike
- Deep settings navigation
- Source: Capterra, 99 reviews

How it works in practice
Continu lists Salesforce, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, BambooHR, Workday and SSO through Okta and OneLogin. HubSpot isn't named on the pages we read. G2 data wasn't available to us, so the rating in the table is from Capterra. Capterra reviewers describe an easy-to-navigate layout and a few complain about deep settings menus.
- Starting price
- Quote only; Growth (under 1,000 monthly active users), Professional (1,000 to 5,000) and Enterprise (5,000+) bands; implementation fee of 10% of the first-year contract and about 60 days to implement, per the pricing FAQ

Enablement Suites With Training Built In
In these suites training sits next to the content library, so the package you buy decides whether you get real courses or only knowledge checks. Read the package names closely before you compare prices, because none of the three publishes one.
Seismic
Best for lessons next to the content library
Fits a company that already runs Seismic for content and wants lessons, grading and practice in the same suite, and is willing to buy by package and add-on.
A pricing-change lesson in Seismic Learning. An admin builds a lesson, and the AI-Lesson Builder can draft one. Lessons go into a Learning Journey, and instructor-led events can be scheduled alongside. Pass or fail works through a retake score, set for the whole account or for a single lesson. A rep who scores below it gets the lesson reassigned automatically and the knowledge checks reset. Multiple choice and multiple select questions grade themselves, while free-response and file-upload answers wait in a grading station for a person. Reps can also practice by submitting audio, video, chat or email, and Seismic's Role-Play Agent simulates customer conversations from content already in Seismic. We found no public statement of the Role-Play Agent's scoring criteria, languages or pass threshold.
The retake-score details come from the help center of Lessonly, the product Seismic bought and now sells as Seismic Learning, so today's screens may look different. Seismic's product description lists lessons and grading as an add-on on the Essential package and as included on Advanced and Ultimate; the matrix was hard to read, so confirm it in a quote.
- you already use Seismic for content and want lessons and grading beside it
- you want objective questions graded automatically and open answers routed to a person
- you want one price and one training-first product: Seismic sells packages and add-ons by quote
- you need documented role-play scoring before you sign: the public pages don't state it
- Users like
- Document management and ease of use
- Users dislike
- Navigation and admin setup
- Source: G2, 1,805 reviews

How it works in practice
Seismic Learning has its own G2 listing, rated 4.7 from about 600 reviews, where reviewers most often cite ease of use. The 4.6 in the table is for Seismic Enablement Cloud, where reviewers flag an unintuitive user experience and information overload.

Highspot by Seismic
Best for letting reps test out
Fits a team that wants training in the same platform reps use for content and CRM plays and will buy the Better package or above.
Where training starts in Highspot. The pricing page lists three packages. Good has AI-generated knowledge checks on content items and nothing more for training. Better, called Train and practice, adds skills and competencies, AI-assisted training authoring, event-based and on-demand learning, adaptive learning with test-out, role play, automated nudging and analytics for courses, events and learning paths. Best adds role play for coaching, meeting intelligence and analytics for reps and teams.
In practice an admin drafts a course with AI from existing content, imports SCORM if needed and assigns role-specific learning paths for new hires. Adaptive learning lets reps skip material they have mastered and recommends training for gaps. AI Role Play builds practice conversations from the content, messaging and deal context already in Highspot, with feedback measured against your own competency framework instead of a generic score. The pricing page lists no certifications on any package, and we found no public pass mark.
- you want new hires to skip material they already know and get training recommended for gaps
- you want training in the same place reps already find content and CRM plays
- you need certification you can verify before buying: no package lists it
- you only need quizzes: the entry package gives AI knowledge checks on content, and courses start a package higher
- Users like
- Ease of use
- Users dislike
- Learning curve and keeping content current
- Source: G2, 1,206 reviews

How it works in practice
Highspot says there's no immediate change to login, workflows or support after the merger and no migration plans, and it has announced no pricing change. Reviewers on G2 praise the central content library and search, and describe the admin side as complex at setup. Highspot lists Salesforce, an MCP server and 100+ integrations, some gated by package.

Showpad
Best for pass logic you can read first
Fits a team that wants courses, tests, certificates and spoken AI practice with a help-center article that documents how passing works, and will buy the Advanced package.
Setting a pass mark in Showpad. Showpad is the only tool here whose help center shows the whole test setup. A Test block in a Course has four question types: single select, multi select, text match and short answer worth 1 to 5 points. The passing score defaults to 75% and can be changed. An author can also set an attempt limit, retake of incorrect answers only, a time limit and random question order, and can lock a module until earlier ones are done. Short answers have to be graded by an assigned manager or admin before the course counts as complete. A passed test can award a downloadable certificate, and "Skip course if passed" lets a rep test out. AI can draft questions from lesson files or highlighted text, and the author approves them.
For practice there are two options. Roleplay AI is a spoken scenario against an AI persona, with communication style, education level and difficulty set by the author, in 14 languages. Its Virtual Coach scores up to 10 weighted categories. Pitch AI takes recorded or written pitches and scores delivery, or lets a manager coach. Managers follow results in the My Team hub.
- you want a test with a documented 75% default pass score, attempt limits and certificates
- you want spoken AI practice scored on weighted categories you define
- you want a simple, cheap LMS: the useful pieces start at Advanced, tests also need the Learn+ add-on and nothing is priced publicly
- you want one product line: Showpad now sells Brainshark and Bigtincan products under separate names
- Users like
- Content search and sharing
- Users dislike
- Admin back end and reporting
- Source: G2, 1,909 reviews

How it works in practice
Showpad lists 75+ pre-configured integrations and an open API. Reviewers on Capterra, where Showpad scores 4.4 from 69 reviews, say it simplifies training and onboarding, and mention admin workload with large content libraries and an iOS app that's less dependable offline.

AI Role-Play Tools for Sales Practice
AI role-play tools do one thing well: they give a rep a buyer to practice against and score the conversation. Hyperbound says it isn't an LMS and connects to yours, while Second Nature adds a course editor around its role plays.
Hyperbound
Best for cold-call and objection reps
Fits an SDR or AE team that needs volume practice before live calls and already has an LMS or enablement tool for courses.
Certifying a pricing pitch in Hyperbound. Enablement builds role-play scenarios and a scorecard around the new message, assigns the program and tracks results from one dashboard. Reps practice cold calls, discovery, objections and demos against AI buyers by voice. Each session returns a criteria-level score with transcript citations and next steps, and managers can set certification thresholds and see who met the standard. A buyer bot can be built from your product, ICP and messaging, or from an uploaded call transcript or a LinkedIn profile. On the Perform plan, real calls are scored against the same scorecard, so the check continues after go-live. Hyperbound says certification can be embedded in your own LMS through SCORM and names Seismic and Highspot.
The free plan includes 45 prebuilt AI role-plays and example scorecards. Custom buyer bots, custom scorecards and playlists need Practice. Manager assignments, AI Coach and real-call scoring need Perform. Both paid plans are sold by quote and priced per user, and no default certification threshold is published.
- your reps need repetitions on cold calls and objections before they talk to a buyer
- you want to try practice for free before you buy anything
- you need courses and quizzes: Hyperbound says it isn't an LMS
- you want manager assignments without buying the Perform tier
- Users like
- Realistic simulations and ease of use
- Users dislike
- Minor bugs

How it works in practice
Hyperbound records Gong, Zoom, Teams and Meet calls, connects to Salesforce, HubSpot and Dynamics, and names Mindtickle, Seismic, Showpad, Allego, Highspot and Cornerstone among the LMS and enablement tools it works with. The G2 rating is 4.9 from 38 reviews, a small sample.

Second Nature
Best for scored scenarios built from your documents
Fits an enablement team that wants to turn a deck or playbook into a scored practice course without technical help, and certifies reps on a pitch or demo.
Building a course in Second Nature. Creators use a Course Editor that needs no technical skill. A course can mix videos, decks and quizzes with an AI role play, which the AI generator can build from freeform text or an uploaded document, or from templates for MEDDPICC, BANT and SPIN. The creator sets weighted topics and passing criteria. Reps practice by voice, webcam pitch, slides or screen-share demo, from a mobile browser too, in 30+ languages, and get a score 45 to 90 seconds after the session. The default scoring weight is 70% knowledge and 30% style, and organizations can change it.
Managers can adjust the AI scoring criteria, review the AI's assessment, add a manual evaluation for certification and watch completion rates and proficiency heatmaps. Second Nature publishes no default pass score, and the pages we read don't show real-call scoring.
- you certify reps on a pitch or demo before they go live
- you want scenarios built from your own decks and documents with MEDDPICC, BANT or SPIN templates
- you want to score real recorded calls: the pages we read describe practice sessions only
- you want a published price or a small self-serve plan
- Users like
- Skill development and ease of use

How it works in practice
Second Nature exports to LMS tools through SCORM, including Cornerstone, Docebo, SuccessFactors and Adobe Learning Manager, and works with Salesforce and HubSpot, with SAML SSO and SCIM. G2 shows 4.6 from about 366 reviews, though the count varies between 298 and 371 by page. The most common complaint is voice recognition.

Which Plan Unlocks Training and Certification?
The same vendor can sell a quiz tool and a role-play tool under one name, so the package matters as much as the brand. The table shows where training starts in each tool, the pass or certification mechanics we could verify on public pages, and what stayed hidden.
| Tool | Where training starts | Pass or certification detail we could verify | Not public |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mindtickle | Quote only, no public package list | Eight quiz types scored by the platform; a person reviews most pitch exercises (Mindtickle's blog) | Pass-score setting; which modules sit in which package |
| Allego | Learning and AI Role Play are separate products | Certification paths in Learning; custom badges and certifications in AI Role Play | How a pass is defined |
| SalesHood | Essential, Pro, Unlimited; AI practice capped at 10, 80 or unlimited | Minimum passing scores and graders on test and pitch modules (SalesHood's comparison page) | Default threshold and retake settings |
| Continu | Growth, Professional, Enterprise by active users; video coaching on Professional | Admin-set pass mark and retake policy; certificates that expire and re-assign | Default pass mark |
| Seismic | Learning is an add-on on Essential; included on Advanced and Ultimate | Retake score per lesson or account, automatic reassignment, grading station | Role-Play Agent scoring and pass threshold |
| Highspot | Courses, test-out and role play start at Better | None on the pricing page | Pass marks and certification flow |
| Showpad | Courses in Professional; Knowledge Checks, Certifications and Roleplay AI from Advanced; tests also need Learn+ | 75% default pass score, attempt limits, time limits, certificates | Learn+ price |
| Hyperbound | Free plan; Practice and Perform by quote | Certification thresholds on scorecards; SCORM embed; real-call scoring on Perform | Default threshold |
| Second Nature | One enterprise package by quote | Weighted topics and passing criteria set by the creator; manual evaluation for certification | Default pass score |
How Much Does Sales Training Software Cost?
Most sales training software is sold by quote, so the honest answer is a set of pricing formats, not a number. None of the nine tools lists a paid price in USD on its own site. Hyperbound publishes a free plan, Highspot, Showpad and SalesHood publish package names without prices, and Continu publishes plan bands by monthly active users instead of seats.
What changes the bill is mostly in the terms, not the seat price, and five of them recur across these vendors.
- Contract length varies: Allego says a three-year term billed annually upfront is typical, with two-year and one-year options.
- Implementation can carry its own cost: Continu's pricing FAQ puts it at about 60 days and a fee of 10% of the first-year contract, and Allego says it can take as little as four weeks, with managed services extra.
- Add-ons change the package: Seismic sells Learning as an add-on on its Essential package, Showpad's tests need the Learn+ add-on, and Allego prices Learning and AI Role Play as separate products.
- Practice volume can be capped: SalesHood limits AI practice to 10 submissions per license on Essential and 80 on Pro.
- One vendor-listed starting point exists: SalesHood's G2 profile shows "starting at $45.00" per user per month, supplied by the vendor without a plan name, so treat it as a floor for a conversation, not a quote.
Free and Low-Cost Sales Training Software
The only free plan in this list is Hyperbound's. It includes 45 prebuilt AI role-plays and example scorecards, and it leaves out playlists, custom scorecards and manager assignments. We didn't find a self-serve free plan for the other eight. A team on a tight budget can start with free practice repetitions and keep running the course content in the wiki or LMS it already has, then add a platform once a pilot shows which pass criteria matter.
A 30-Day Ramp Plan for a New Rep
A ramp plan works when each checkpoint has a pass criterion and an owner. Use this one as a template and adjust it to your sales cycle. The pass marks are yours to set; Showpad's 75% default is one reference point, not a benchmark.
- EnablementAssign the onboarding path, set a pass mark for each checkpoint and write the role-play rubric Before day 1
- New repProduct and customer course, then a quiz at the pass mark; retake until passed Week 1
- New repScored discovery role play with three attempts; the best score counts Week 2
- ManagerReview the lowest-scoring attempt and one recorded pitch; sign off or assign a retry End of week 2
- New repPricing and objection role play, then shadow two live calls Week 3
- ManagerScore the rep's first live calls against the same rubric as the role plays Week 4
- EnablementCertification decision: pass, or a targeted gap assignment for week 5 Day 30
The last two rows are the ones most programs skip. Scoring live calls on the rubric used in practice is the only way to find out whether the practice transfers, and it needs either a call-scoring feature (Hyperbound Perform) or a manager with time.
How to Tell Whether the Training Worked
Vendor pages quote ramp-time and win-rate gains, but those numbers come from the vendors' own customer stories. Measure your own cohorts with signals you already collect, and compare each new cohort with the previous one.
| Signal | Where it comes from | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Pass rate and attempts per checkpoint | The training tool's reports | Whether reps pass the first quiz and role play within two attempts, or stall |
| Role-play score versus live-call score | Scored practice and a manager's call review | Whether a strong practice score predicts a strong first live call |
| Time to first qualified meeting and first closed deal | Your CRM | Whether the new cohort reaches both sooner than the last one |
| Manager time spent grading | Your calendar and the review queue | Whether grading stays manageable as cohorts grow |
How to Run a Pilot Before You Buy
Pick one training job, such as a new-hire pitch or a pricing change, and run it through two vendors with your own material. A demo template proves nothing about how long your content takes to build. Because the public pages leave pass settings and package contents open in most cases, the pilot is where you check them.
- Choose one training job and decide what a pass means: a quiz score, a role-play score or a manager sign-off
- Ask each vendor to show a pass mark being set and a failed attempt being retaken
- Build the real course or scenario from your own deck, not a demo template
- Run 5 to 10 reps through it, including one manager who will grade
- Check where the scores appear in your CRM or reporting
- Get the quote in writing: package, add-ons, contract term, implementation fee and managed services
- Compare the time to build and the time to grade with what you spend today
- Write down what you could not verify and ask for it before you sign
When a Product Change Ships Mid-Ramp
Training programs are built for what stays true: your pitch, your process and your ideal customer. A pricing change or a new feature is different. It needs a short brief, a list of things reps must not say and proof that every SDR, AE and CSM can explain it by a date. Any of the platforms above can carry that as one more course, but building a course for every release is slow, and a completion report won't show who is ready to talk to a customer.
For that gap, The GTM Lead sends one release brief to your SDRs, AEs and CSMs, who read it, acknowledge it and answer a quick check, so you see who is ready before customers ask. It isn't a learning management system or a training platform, and it works alongside the tools in this guide.
What is sales training software?
Sales training software delivers courses, quizzes, practice and reporting so a manager can tell which reps are ready to sell. Depending on the tool, it covers onboarding paths, knowledge checks, AI role play, manager-graded recordings and certificates.
What is the difference between sales training and sales coaching software?
Sales training software teaches and tests skills before or alongside live selling, with courses, quizzes and practice. Sales coaching software reviews real calls and helps a manager give feedback on them. Some products, such as Hyperbound's Perform plan, score real calls against the same rubric as practice and cover both.
Is there free sales training software?
Among the nine tools in this guide, only Hyperbound has a free plan, with 45 prebuilt AI role-plays and example scorecards. The other eight are sold by quote. Free plans leave out playlists, custom scorecards and manager assignments.
How much does sales training software cost?
None of the nine tools lists a paid price in USD on its own site. Vendors quote by package, active-user band or per user, and contract terms add to the cost: Allego says a three-year term is typical, and Continu charges an implementation fee of 10% of the first-year contract.
Do I need an LMS if I buy an AI role-play tool?
Usually yes for courses and quizzes. Hyperbound says it isn't an LMS and can embed certification in yours through SCORM, while Second Nature adds a course editor and exports to LMS tools through SCORM. Learning platforms such as Mindtickle, Allego and Continu cover the course side.
What is an AI sales coach?
An AI sales coach is software that plays the buyer in a practice conversation and scores the rep afterward, or that scores real recorded calls. Tools such as Hyperbound, Second Nature, Mindtickle, Allego and Showpad's Roleplay AI work this way, and each scores against a rubric you set.
